Down among the courgettes.

Time to get down and dirty with the planting again today. I’d got fed up with falling over the squashes and courgettes that were sitting by the back door, being put out by day and pulled in by night like so many many cats, and decided that they had hardened off enough to go to their permanent quarters. I have a squash called cobnut, and have planted 2 plants of that in amongst the beans. I read that beans and squash are good companions, so I am emulating an Native American practice. Wish I could remember where I read about it, but I know that sweet corn is the other companion plant, but I really don’t have enough room for that too.
I’ve made up up some pots and other containers full of summer plants , to carry the colour forward when the spring perennials die down. This garden is definitely a spring and early summer garden and can look dull after the roses finish.
