Bird Watch

Its the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend. I expect to see my friend (above) and his
( her?) friends in the hour I shall spend counting, although the flowers won’t be out-I took this picture last September.

There is a serious purpose behind the birdwatch-it is the world’s largest bird survey and is now in its third decade, providing “a significant contribution to monitoring garden bird numbers and helping highlight that some garden birds are in need of help.” This was the survey that first established just how drastically the number of house sparrows has been declining in the UK.

As my own photographs are not great, I thought I would refer to you to this fabulous photographer’s site. There are some truly stunning bird pictures here. What a talented man is Paul Bunyard
