Short and sweet

A single pot of Viola odorata bought last year was planted at the feet of a Silver birch. This Spring the violets re-emerged enthusiastically, smothered with fragrant blooms. It seemed too good a signal to ignore when I saw these last week- Viola “Coeur d’Alsace”.
I’m going to plant them with the original clump, as part of an ongoing plan to provide each of my trees with a distinctive “footer”.
